There is a pre-trip to Pilanesberg Big 5 Game Reserve and Black Rhino Game Lodge departing the U.S. June 15, 2023. Two of us have signed up for this already. We would welcome you if you’d care to join us.

This reserve is home to the big five and an abundance of bird life: including the endangered blue crane and Martial eagles.
We will be searching for lions, rhinos, hippos, wildebeests, and more…

The main tour departs the U.S. June 19, 2023. Everyone returns July 5, 2023. Meetup only allows a two week event (for some strange reason) so the dates I have listed here in the description are the correct ones.

All 14 nights of hotels and Safari lodges will be four and five stars. You will be spoiled! 40 meals are included: 14 breakfast, 13 lunches, and 13 dinners.

And the tented safari camps in the national parks are unbelievable. The space inside and the amenities are definitely four-star.

Since the requirements in the world are changing continuously, we don’t know if vaccinations, covid testing, and/or masks will be required for this journey in 2023. It will be your responsibility to meet these requirements.

Main 16 day tour summary:

Day 1: Depart for Johannesburg, S. Africa
Day 2: arrive in Johannesburg, transfer to hotel, walk the streets, and rest and recover.
Day 3: tour Soweto and visit Nelson Mandela‘s former home
Day 4: Fly to Kruger National Park
Day 5: morning game drive with picnic lunch inside Kruger. Nearly 500 species of birds in the park. Keep an eye out for antelope, Buffalo, zebra, giraffe, elephant, rhino, leopard, and more.
Day 6: early morning game drive looking for Lions.
Day 7: Fly to Livingstone and transfer to Victoria Falls.
Day 8: explore! Victoria Falls, visit a craft market, take an optional flight over the falls, and have dinner with a local family.
Day 9: visit a primary school, have an optional elephant encounter, and enjoy a 3-course bush dinner.
Day 10: transfer to Iganyana Tented camp in Hwange National Park
Day 11: spot wild game on morning and afternoon Safari drives. Then, hear traditional tribal stories around the campfire.
Day 12: visit the Painted Dog conservation Center, enjoy a nighttime game drive, and see an African dance troupe entertain us.
Day 13: travel to Botswana‘s Chobe National Park for an afternoon game drive
Day 14: A sensational relaxing day cruising the Chobe River after a morning game drive
Day 15: embark on a Chobe River photo Safari and learn photography from professionals
Day 16: transfer to Kasane airport and fly home 😞

A signed waiver is due from all travelers. All monies are nonrefundable. Price is accurate at time of posting but subject to change. Roommate pairing assistance is available but you are responsible for the single occupancy charge if neither of us can find you a roommate. No medicinal marijuana or illegal drugs allowed in transit. No animals. You must be able to walk on rough ground unaided. There are no accommodations for any physical handicaps in Africa.
