FINALLY! Yes, we are going to Ireland. Tour price goes up Aug 29 though:-(. We will circumnavigate the country counter clockwise: Dublin, Belfast, Derry, Donegal, Sligo, Galway, Cliffs of Moher, Killarney, Blarney Castle, and end in Limerick.

This will be a fully escorted trip: I will be with you from Tucson to Ireland and back, and we will have full-time local guides from arrival to departure. I can fly you from other airports too.

Day 1: Depart Tucson early for Dublin

Day 2: Morning arrival in Dublin. We’ll meet our tour director at the airport. We’ll walk around Merrion Square and Phoenix Park, one of Europe’s largest walled city parks, home to the presidential residence, and the boyhood home of Winston Churchill. Discover Trinity College, Ireland’s oldest university, and the Old Library, containing the 9th century Book of Kells. Welcome dinner.

Day 3: We’ll visit Christchurch Cathedral and the Guinness Storehouse, tour both, and go to the rooftop Gravity Bar to enjoy a pint of Guinness and savor the spectacular views.

Day 4: We’ll head to the Ards Peninsula in County Down, Northern Ireland. En route, visit the magnificent Castle Ward House & Gardens. The mansion is situated in a stunning location overlooking Strangford Lough (expansive walled gardens). Later, board a ferry from Strangford to Portaferry and pass by a number of charming towns and villages before arriving in Belfast. An included guided tour takes in the leaning Albert Memorial Clock tower and the Opera House. You’ll also see the Edwardian City Hall, the Crown Bar, Queens University and the Botanic Gardens. A visit to the Shankill and Falls Road will give the visitor an indication of how life was in Belfast during its troubled times.

Day 5: The Titanic Belfast Experience. The Experience brings alive the story of the Titanic from her conception in Belfast in the early 1900s, through her construction and launch, to her infamous maiden voyage and catastrophic demise.

Day 6: We’ll travel along the North Antrim Coast and discover the amazing geological wonder of Giant’s Causeway: A UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then, on to the picturesque port town of Derry (with preserved medieval city walls).

Day 7: Today we’ll journey south via County Sligo’s beautiful scenery, including the lakes of Sligo (with wooded islands) and Carrowmore Cemetery (Stone Age tombs). Continue to Galway on Ireland’s west coast.

Day 8: Free day in Galway. Optional full day excursion (which I plan to take and recommend) to the Connemara Region (euro 60): emerald green lakes, pristine rivers, bogs, mountains, and small villages. Connemara is widely considered Ireland’s wildest/most romantic part. We visit Kylemore Abbey, a neo-gothic castle and gardens built in 1868. Then, we cruise Killary: 9 miles of the finest scenery in the West of Ireland.

Day 9: Rathbaum Farm, Burren Region, Cliffs of Moher, and the Shannon Ferry to County Kerry and Killarney.

Day 10: Molls Gap, Ladies View, Ring of Kerry, Death Valley, and Kenmare. Optional Kate Kearney’s Cottage traditional Irish night including dinner (euro 50).

Day 11: West Kerry, Dingle Peninsula, Slea Head, Blaskets and Skellig islands.

Day 12: Blarney Castle, Blarney stone/Woolen Mills, Adare, Limerick, medieval Castle dinner.
