It’s time to head back to the Rio Sonora (Sonoran River) area of Mexico. This peaceful region (south of Naco) is safe, friendly, and beautiful. Small towns under 2000 people and lots of farming and ranching happens here. It’s about 4 hours of driving time from Tucson.
We’ll visit town squares, churches, and follow the route of Juan Batista de Anza. I’m anticipating wildflowers and fabulous weather at this time of year. And with almost zero light pollution at the ranch, the stargazing will be amazing!!!
I will need a color copy/pdf scan of your passport or passport card to go on this trip. It must be unexpired, and I would recommend it be good for at least 6 months.
Our quiet and very quaint Hacienda has 2 wonderful hosts. They will offer us wonderful authentic Mexican buffet meals on their 8000 acre working cattle ranch, and we’ll dine in Banámichi on Friday for lunch on our day of exploration.
The area is surrounded by beautiful mountains and there will be ample opportunities for nature walks at the ranch. The common areas are great for playing games, reading, and our happy hours. There is a central courtyard which all the rooms face. It’ll welcome you each morning as you exit your private accommodation.
Note: our hacienda will not have alcohol available outside of dinnertime so we are encouraged to bring our own. Happy hour will be scheduled every day before dinner.
Each of our spacious rooms in the 9 room hacienda have 2 queen beds and a private bath.
We’ll drive down Thursday morning in our 3 seven-passenger mini vans so you don’t have to drive or bring your vehicle into Mexico.
Carpooling and trip details will be finalized at the trip mixer Thursday March 18 at 6pm. Please put it on your calendar.
