This weekend adventure can be either 4 or 5 days. Drive over with us on Wed or travel there Thursday with those who couldn’t make it Wed.

The Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Casino is located in the beautiful Sacramento Mountains of South Central New Mexico, on the Mescalero Apache Reservation, adjacent to the mountain resort community of Ruidoso. In fact, the resort is only a ten minute drive from Midtown Ruidoso, the village’s tourism center and 45 minutes to Ski Apache:

There is so much to do at the resort: indoor pool and jacuzzi (robes are included), a comedy club (plan for Wed night), casino gaming like Vegas (they are not limited like our AZ casinos), fitness center, free internet, and the choices for food and drink will keep you happy. The breakfast buffet will be included every morning with our stay, dinner Wed and Thursday night are included, and we will be staying in upgraded “luxury” rooms with amazing views of the lake.

We will carpool and caravan to/from New Mexico and share gas. Volunteer drivers will be needed and passengers will be asked to cover all the gas. On our way to the resort (and back home), we will have opportunities to stop and explore eastern Arizona and New Mexico to break up the drive and add to the adventure. There are no limits to where we can stop or visit during our 5 day expedition.

Some examples of places to visit: White Sands National Monument, Cloudcroft, Alamogordo, Mesilla, Lincoln (famous for Billy the Kid), 3 Rivers Petroglyphs, Ruidoso Downs, Fort Stanton, Smokey The Bear museum, Silver Lake, Roswell, and so much more.
If you are a skier or snowboarder, Ski Apache usually has an amazing accumulation of snow (8 foot base last season) and the enclosed gondola is fabulous. It’ll get you to the top in no time, and you’ll be warm!!! There is a shuttle at the resort to/from the ski area for $20 roundtrip, or we can drive up and park for free. It’s a scenic drive. If you like exploring on foot, snowshoe, or cross country skis, there are trails to get you into the national forest.
Our resort is at 7000 feet and the top of Ski Apache is just under 12,000! Oh yeah!
