Mt Lemmon Cabin, Sky Center Observatory Tour, 20+ degrees Cooler, Pine trees!!!
Thursday, August 23, 2018 4:00 PM to
This will be our first time in this cabin on Mt Lemmon. Our October trip filled up so fast, and Tucson is just so %$#@ hot in the summer, I had to schedule another weekend. It is in a forested area with mature pine trees, unaffected by any of the fires.
We will be walking distance from all the action in Summerhaven, have trails right out our door, and will have reserved parking. What a deal!!! Think wonderful temperatures for hiking, hot chocolate on the deck, and star gazing. And we will have a Friday night reservation for the evening program at the Sky Center Observatory to see planets, stars, aliens, and other cool stuff:
We have a bonus again for this cabin: you can go up Thursday and make it a longer weekend. We’ll have dinner each evening in the cabin (except Friday when the Sky Center feeds us) and have a relaxing breakfast every morning. I’ll make lunch reservations for us to eat out Friday and Saturday together.
Please keep August 14 Tuesday at 6:00pm open for our mixer. We will work out carpooling and meals, and we’ll meet all of our weekend playmates. Location will be emailed to all confirmed travelers. We will need to carpool, as there are only spaces for 4 cars.
Our 3-story 3 bedroom 3 bath modern pine cabin has lots of space inside and out and will be the “cool” setting for our meals, gatherings, and entertainment. With 2800 square feet, games, toys, billiards, ping pong table, dvd player, wide screen tv, a huge open kitchen, and ample space on the 1200 sq foot deck, we won’t have a shortage of things to do at the cabin. AND we will be just a few minutes from the Marshall Gulch and Sabino Riparian areas for hiking and exploration.
We’ll have 5 group meals together in the cabin (plus 1 at the observatory): Thursday, Friday and Saturday dinner and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday breakfast (cost included for all meals at the cabin), and I’ll need to know in advance if you have any dietary restrictions. Each person will help with preparation, cooking, and/or clean up for each of the meals.
We’ll relax on the deck, hike, nap, explore, eat pie ala mode, play games, watch movies, have happy hours, stargaze, dance and eat… Whatever we feel like doing. We’ll be able to enjoy the shade from the Pine, Aspen and Maple trees as we meander through the forest on 1 of our hikes. We’ll discuss meal options at the mixer when we have our final group figured out.
Choice of rooms, beds, sleeper sofas, and deck will be first come, first reserved. There are 13 bed spaces among 3 bedrooms and the 3 sleeper sofas. 2 of the bedrooms only have 1 bed in each: a queen. The other bedroom has a queen and a twin. There is 1 sleeper couch in the living room, 1 in the loft, and 1 downstairs in the game room. There will be 3 other spots available on the porch/deck outside. Just bring an inflatable mattress or foam pad and sleeping bag.
Linens, pillows, blankets, and towels are provided if you are in a bed or sleeper sofa. If you are on the deck, you will need to bring a pillow, sheets, blanket/ sleeping bag, and towels.
All of the cabins on Mt Lemmon are very expensive. We can make it affordable by sharing in the cost. Since we sell out every time, and this is always a big hit, we have another great weekend planned up there. Choose the best option below that fits your needs and budget.
